(FOX5) – In a recent road accident on Sunday morning near Eastern and Wigwam, a motorcyclist sustained personal injuries in a serious suspected DUI crash. David Degood, 72, faces a DUI charge following the incident. According to law enforcement, Degood, driving a white Toyota minivan, allegedly failed to yield the right of way to the motorcyclist while exiting a private driveway.
The victim suffered two broken legs, a broken pelvis, a brain bleed, and a severed artery. Despite Degood’s assertion to police that he had just left a dispensary and didn’t see the oncoming motorcycle, authorities noted several signs of impairment at the scene.
Police determined that the motorcyclist was not speeding, which further underlines Degood’s failure to yield as the primary cause of the collision. Degood was subsequently released on his own recognizance but was ordered not to use drugs or alcohol and to maintain a clean record. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 13 for further proceedings. The incident highlights the importance of vigilance and responsibility on the road to prevent such accidents and injuries.
