(KLAS) — Tragedy struck in northeast Las Vegas early Friday morning as a rollover crash claimed the life of one person and left another critically injured. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the collision occurred when 28-year-old Charlie Hernandez was speeding southbound in a Dodge Challenger on Las Vegas Boulevard. Hernandez’s vehicle collided with a Hyundai Accent, which was turning from Walnut Road onto the boulevard. The impact was so severe that it caused the Hyundai to split into two parts, while Hernandez’s Challenger overturned.

Tragically, the 38-year-old driver of the Hyundai sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, a 29-year-old passenger in Hernandez’s car was also seriously injured and was rushed to UMC’s Trauma Center, where he remains in critical condition.
