LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A tragic accident in the North Las Vegas Valley has resulted in the death of a 78-year-old bicyclist, two weeks after the initial collision, as reported by North Las Vegas police.
On the morning of August 2, around 4 a.m., officers from the North Las Vegas Police Department responded to an incident involving a vehicle and a bicyclist near Tropical Parkway and Loose Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Chevy Trailblazer, traveling eastbound on Tropical Parkway and nearing Losee Road, struck the rear of the bicyclist. The impact caused the cyclist to be thrown onto the vehicle’s hood before being propelled onto the roadway.
Emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene promptly, transporting the injured cyclist—identified as a 78-year-old woman—to a nearby hospital. Despite the immediate medical care, she sustained severe injuries. Officers at the scene noted that the driver of the Chevy Trailblazer remained at the location of the accident. After assessing the situation, they determined that neither speed nor impairment were factors contributing to the collision.
Tragically, on August 16, the Clark County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the 78-year-old cyclist had succumbed to her injuries, marking a sorrowful end to her fight for survival.
