(KTNV) — Tragedy struck Wednesday night as a pedestrian lost her life after being struck by a vehicle, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred at 6:32 p.m. on E. Shelbourne Avenue, west of Rancho Destino Road.
Reports indicate that the pedestrian, a woman walking her dog, was heading westbound on Shelbourne Avenue when the collision transpired. Investigators found evidence suggesting that a Ford F-150, traveling in the same direction, collided with the pedestrian. The 56-year-old victim was rushed to University Medical Center with critical injuries, where she later succumbed to them. As of 11:15 a.m., her identity remains undisclosed.
Authorities cited glare from the setting sun as a potential contributing factor to the tragic accident. Nevertheless, the driver stayed at the crash scene and showed no signs of impairment.
