(FOX5) -A tragic car accident claimed the life of a woman in North Las Vegas on Thursday night. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 10:24 p.m. on East Lake Mead Boulevard at the junction with North Pecos Road. Reports indicate that the woman was using a marked crosswalk but disregarded the “Don’t Walk” signal while attempting to cross East Lake Mead Boulevard.
At that moment, a 2004 Acura TL traveling westbound on Lake Mead Boulevard collided with the woman, causing her to be thrown to the ground. Emergency medical responders swiftly transported her to the University Medical Center Trauma Center for urgent care. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries later on.
The driver of the Acura remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, as confirmed by law enforcement authorities. This unfortunate incident marks the 42nd traffic-related fatality within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the year 2024. The collision is currently under investigation by the department’s Collision Investigation Section, seeking to determine the circumstances surrounding this devastating car accident.
