(FOX5) – In a harrowing hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning, a 29-year-old pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a white 2008 Chevrolet Equinox in northeast Las Vegas. The incident unfolded at approximately 7:50 a.m. on North Nellis Boulevard, just south of East Craig Road, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Preliminary investigations conducted by authorities revealed that the pedestrian was walking southbound on Nellis Boulevard along the sidewalk when the Chevrolet Equinox veered onto the walkway, colliding with the victim. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving the pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, however, chose to flee the scene immediately after the collision, leaving the victim in critical condition. Emergency medical services quickly responded to the scene and transported the injured pedestrian to the Trauma Center at University Medical Center for urgent medical attention.
Subsequent efforts by law enforcement led to the discovery of the unoccupied Chevrolet, but the driver responsible for the hit-and-run remains at large.
