(FOX5) – A 31-year-old man tragically lost his life in a car accident in the South Valley on Monday morning. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded to the collision at the intersection of Bermuda Road and Cactus Avenue.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 2003 Lexus ES300 was traveling south on Bermuda when a 2008 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, reportedly speeding, struck the rear of the Lexus at 12:15 a.m. The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles.
Emergency medical services rushed to the scene and transported both drivers to University Medical Center for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver of the Lexus succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the hospital, marking the 61st traffic-related death in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, who sustained moderate injuries, was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested on DUI and reckless driving charges.
As investigations continue, the LVMPD Fatal Detail is diligently probing the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the importance of road safety.
