On Sunday night, a devastating car accident claimed the life of a pedestrian, resulting in the arrest of the driver on charges related to driving under the influence (DUI), according to Metro Police.
The incident unfolded around 8:45 p.m. along Pecos Road, located south of Maule Avenue, authorities reported.
According to Metro Police, the car accident occurred when the vehicle, traveling northward, collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the street outside of designated crosswalk areas.
Tragically, the pedestrian, identified as a 35-year-old male, succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the car accident, police confirmed. However, the identity of the victim has been withheld pending notification of their family members.
The driver involved, a 28-year-old resident of Las Vegas, sustained minor injuries during the car accident, police disclosed. Subsequently, upon investigation, law enforcement noted indicators suggesting impairment in the driver’s behavior. Consequently, the individual was taken into custody and transported to the Clark County Detention Center, where they face charges related to driving under the influence, according to Metro Police.
